Building Inspection Services, Permits and Fees

The busy building season is upon us and the City of Hamilton’s Public Works and Building Departments have some important updates regarding permitting and building inspections for projects in the City of Hamilton.

In an effort to streamline building inspection services, the City of Hamilton Public Works and Building Department will provide services related to the interpretation, application and enforcement of Building, Plumbing, Electrical and Mechanical Codes and associated local regulations for permits beginning June 1, 2021.

The City’s building official will now conduct building inspections including mechanical and electrical.

The City Building Official provides services related to the issuance of building permits, occupancy permits and related inspections in the following fields:
  • International Residential Code
  • International Building Code
  • International Existing Building Code
  • International Energy Conservation Code
  • Uniform Plumbing Code
  • International Mechanical Code
  • International Fuel Gas Code
  • National Electrical Code
  • International Swimming Pool and Spa Code
All work requiring a permit must be inspected by the City’s building official to ensure compliance with enforced codes.

All contractors doing work in the City of Hamilton are required to file the proper permits and arrange for the proper inspections. For permit and applications forms, CLICK HERE.
